Ingredients

Scale

  • 1/2 cup lukewarm whole milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened for filling
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened for icing
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract for icing
  • 12 tablespoons whole milk for icing
  • Pinch of salt for icing

Instructions

  1. 1. Activate the yeast by mixing lukewarm milk with yeast; let it froth for 5–10 minutes.
  2. 2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, butter, egg, and vanilla; combine into a rough dough.
  3. 3. Knead on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a greased bowl for 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
  4. 4. Prepare the cheesecake filling by beating cream cheese until smooth; add sugar, vanilla, flour, and sour cream.
  5. 5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread softened butter over it and layer with cheesecake filling followed by cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. 6. Roll tightly into a log and cut into twelve pieces. Let them rise again for about 30–45 minutes.
  7. 7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. 8. Prepare cream cheese icing while cooling; drizzle over warm rolls and top with fresh strawberries.
