  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (14 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • 2 teaspoons curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro, roughly chopped

Instructions

  1. Rinse red lentils under cold water until clear; soak for at least 6 hours.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, warm the oil and sauté garlic, ginger, and serrano peppers for about 3 minutes.
  3. Add spices and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
