Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf Challah bread (cut into 1-inch cubes)
  • 1 pint fresh blueberries (rinsed)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/4 cup cold butter (cut into cubes)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until smooth.
  3. Layer the cubed Challah bread evenly in the prepared baking dish and scatter the blueberries over the top.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and blueberries, ensuring all bread pieces are well-soaked.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or for at least four hours.
  6. For the streusel topping, mix all-purpose flour and brown sugar in a bowl; cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove plastic wrap from casserole and sprinkle streusel topping on top.
  8. Bake for about 45-50 minutes until golden brown and set in the center; check with a knife to ensure it's cooked through.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
