  • 1/2 Baguette
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth
  • 3 cups Heavy Cream
  • 300 g Cavatappi Macaroni
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • Fresh Parsley (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Slice onions thinly.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add onions. Cook for 30–40 minutes until caramelized.
  3. Add beef broth to deglaze the pan and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  4. In another pot, prepare a béchamel sauce by whisking flour into melted butter, then gradually adding heavy cream until thickened.
  5. Stir in caramelized onions, salt, pepper, parsley, and Parmesan cheese into the sauce.
  6. Cook cavatappi macaroni until al dente; drain and mix with the sauce.
  7. Transfer to a baking dish, top with remaining onions and breadcrumbs.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
