Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate cookies
  • Extra mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes). Stir in sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Gradually add flour and salt until you have a soft dough. Knead in blue food coloring until evenly mixed. Let rise in a greased bowl for 1 to 1½ hours.
  2. Mix softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, crushed cookies, and chocolate chips for the filling.
  3. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread filling evenly, roll tightly, and cut into 12 rolls.
  4. Place rolls in a greased baking dish; let rise for another 30 to 45 minutes while preheating oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  5. For icing: Beat cream cheese and butter; gradually add powdered sugar and milk until creamy.
  6. Drizzle icing over warm rolls and top with extra crushed cookies if desired.
