  • 11/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large apple (peeled and chopped)
  • 3/4 cups confectioners’ sugar (for glaze)

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease an 8.5 x 4.5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream softened butter, sugar, and vanilla until light; add eggs one at a time.
  4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients alternately with milk until just combined.
  5. Combine apple filling ingredients in another bowl.
  6. Layer half the batter in the prepared pan, followed by half the apple mixture. Repeat layers and swirl gently.
  7. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool before glazing with a mixture of confectioners’ sugar, cinnamon, and water.
