  • 5 pounds apples (peeled and cored)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 & 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • Juice from half a lemon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Prepare a baking sheet.
  2. In a skillet, combine lemon zest, lemon juice, sliced apples, sugars, flour, and spices. Cook over medium heat until fork-tender, about 20 minutes.
  3. Cool the filling completely before assembling the pie.
