  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 medium apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced)
  • 4 tbsp butter (divided)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; cook until apples soften (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, flour, granulated sugar, and salt until smooth.
  4. Add remaining butter to the skillet with cooked apples and place it in the oven for about 2-3 minutes until hot.
  5. Carefully pour batter over the apples and return to the oven; bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before slicing into wedges; serve warm.
